Hi It is an undisplaced lower pole patella fracture Rather than going for a bulky cast you should opt for a long knee brace .

You can start walking on plaster from day 1 with knee in extension. Knee bending is started after 6 weeks on removal of plaster with minimal pain and xray showing signs of union.

Better that you start walking with the help of a walker or a pair of crutches. Gradually you can discard them depending on your response

You can walk now also, but with the help of walker. And probably the orthopaedic surgeon will put a cast. After three weeks, if the fracture is not displaced, then you can start putting weight on the leg, but bending will be started only after six weeks. Note that the risk of a non-operative treatment is that the fracture can displace later and you may require surgery.
Next Steps
See an orthopaedic surgeon
