hi there,
i have gine through ur query and it is a common problem for ppl who change shifts. Hardest phase is the intial few days and then for some ppl gradually the 'biological clock' adjusts. But for rest of the ppl it becomes a major cause for worry as it may sometimes lead to unecessary anger, irritability, decreased concentration, increased anxiety, restlessnness, and /or even depression or mania. Besides these psychiatric dangers, lack of proper sleep is sonetimes also associated with increased gastric upset ( acidity), weight gain, stress induced hairfall etc.
Sleep is the most essential phase for brain to repair and rejuvenate. It is governed by time bound release of some neurotransmitters in brain and sleep in turn governs proper function of various other systems.
If this shift is only temporary then u can consult a psychiatrist and use a hypnotic agent during day time. Alternately u can also consult sleep consultant.
Hope this helps u but feel free to raise any further queries.
Thank you.
