From the X-rays, the fracture of the little finger appears to be displaced and involving alignment, which is why K-wire fixation has been advised. In such fractures, simple splinting often leads to malunion, finger deformity, or long-term stiffness, especially if rotation or angulation is present. K-wire fixation is a minor, commonly performed procedure that helps restore proper alignment and allows better functional recovery. If the fracture was perfectly aligned, conservative treatment could be considered, but based on the images, surgical fixation is a reasonable and appropriate option.
