Hello dear,
Not all lumps are cancers. The lesion has to be examined before any diagnosis is made. And yes, proper history of your dietry habits, oral conditions of gums, teeth, tongue and cheek is important.
A small lump can be due to food impactions, dental infections, other bacterial infections of the gums, mechanical trauma, chemical trauma(spicy or hot food) etc.
Don't be afraid, but yes please be alarmed that small sepsis can sometimes lead to bigger problems if not treated.
Please visit your dentist for the proper diagnosis.
