Perhaps she is having unilateral nasal pathology for which surgery has been advised. Following any surgery follow-up is needed for a period of time, in case of nasal surgery she may need a longer follow-up. Such follow-ups are needed to prevent post operative complications and to detect early recurrence if any. This is the standard protocol of modern treatment  and you should not get frightened.
