My lower back has been hurting for a month

Yesterday morning after breakfast, my lower back on my left side began to hurt. I thought it would go away, but it didn't. It hurts to sit down at a certain angle, to get up and out of a chair/bed/car, and also hurts when I try to lift my legs in the air. It's been a day and it still hurts painfully.
