Knee hurting can be because of a number of reasons, but before we get to it, it would be helpful if you could tell, what position makes it hurt most? has there been any injury that you can remember? when u say twitching.. is it more of a feeling that the knee may buckle? and any position that makes t feel better?
please respond to above questions so that we can find a good treatment strategy for you.

For now, to help the pain you can try applying a cold/ hot pack on the knee (not hot in case of an injury to the area within 48 hrs).

give comparative rest to the knee, and if that is not possible, please make sure you wear a simple knee cap over it.
