Multiple intramural and subserosol
Hello. I have been diagnosed with multiple subserosol (largest is 10.9cm) and intramural (largest is 3.6cm) fibroids. If surgery is the only option, should I go for laproscopy or open myectomy? I am unmarried as of now. As per my research, doctors prefer open myectotomy as it's easier for them. But laparoscopy is better for the patient as it involves mjnimal blood loss. Kindly suggest. My doctor suggests open but after my research, I don't think its a safer option.
Surgery is the only option.
Abdominal (open) Surgery is a better option. 10 cm fibroid is a big problem for laparoscopic surgery. The Doctor who starts laparoscopic surgery in your case may ask for a second consent for an open Surgery if the Laparoscopy fails.
Laparoscopy will not involve minimum blood loss for a 10 cm sized fibroid.
In short, the final decision is yours.
