Memory loss
My mother has recently been showing signs of memory loss. She forgets minor things that she does and sometimes thinks that she has performed a task when she actually hasn't. Is this normal at her age? Could it be an early stage of Alzheimer's? Please advise what steps should be taken from here.
Alzheimer's Dementia is usually known as an old age disease, however, it can begin to show symptoms as early as late 40s and 50s.

It is possible she is showing early signs of dementia. Dementia is a progressive degenerative condition with symptoms like forgetfulness, speech problems, difficulty in doing tasks, behavioral changes,etc. Please consult a Psychiatrist immediately. With medication it is possible to get her behavioural symptoms under control and slow down the process of degeneration. As a care taker, you need to be alert, vigilant and patient with her.

Hi, this could be early onset Alzheimer's. But before labelling her certain blood tests like thyroid tests, Sr. B 12 levels etc, MRI brain need to be done to rule out other causes of treatable or reversible dementia. Also depression and some other disorders needs to be ruled out. A detailed clinical examination and history is needed.
