Medicine allergy info

I had penis allergy (swelling, redness, peeling of skin and itching) while taking metronidazole& related medicine ending with" ZOLE" basically used for vaginal infection. It happened twice to me a few years ago, so a doctor said stop taking medicine ending with ZOLE to be safe from severe allergic reactions. Now a skin doctor has asked me to take itraconazole (2 times a day) as I am having itching on my legs currently. Can I take itraconazole or will it pose the same allergy risk? Not able to connect to the doctor. Thank you!
