Lump in private area
I don't know exactly what it is, and it's been there for 2-3 months and it's exactly at lower stomach right side just above private parts and it causes itching and pain sometimes, can u please guide me what steps to be taken now

From the image and description, the lump is located in the right inguinal (groin) region â just above the private area â in a 27-year-old male. This location and presentation is very characteristic of an inguinal hernia, which is one of the most common causes of a lump in the groin in young men. An inguinal hernia occurs when a small portion of abdominal tissue pushes through a weak spot in the lower abdominal wall. It can cause dull aching pain (especially when straining, lifting, or coughing), itching, and discomfort after prolonged sitting or standing. The fact that it has been there for 2-3 months and is causing symptoms means it should be evaluated and treated â it will not resolve on its own. Other possibilities include a swollen lymph node or a skin cyst, but the location and appearance make inguinal hernia most likely.

Please see a General Surgeon for an in-person examination as soon as possible. The surgeon will confirm the diagnosis by physical examination and may order an ultrasound of the groin. If it is an inguinal hernia, a minor surgical procedure (hernioplasty) is the standard treatment and is very safe. Avoid heavy lifting or straining until you are evaluated. Based on your history and the limited image, it is not possible to confirm the diagnosis. It could be an inflamed hair follicle (folliculitis), an ingrown hair, a sebaceous cyst, or another skin lesion.
As it has been present for 2–3 months with intermittent pain and itching, I recommend an in-person examination by a General Surgeon or Dermatologist.

Avoid squeezing or scratching the swelling, keep the area clean and dry, and wear loose cotton clothing. If there is pus, increasing redness, fever, rapid increase in size, or severe pain, seek medical attention promptly, as it may require drainage and antibiotics.
