I've had it all day , it's like a sharp pain when I breathe in , although it started with a tinge and I went hill walking could this have made it worse?

Possibly... It could be appendicitis. I would sugget you get it checked right away. An abdominal sonography will reveal any abnormalities. Drink lots of water
