I have a sharp pain when I get up or sit down at right lower back, just above the hip. It started randomly a week ago. It is not there while walking or lying down, just when I get up or sit down.

Chiropractic adjustment will help. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times

It could be a muscle cramp. please apply hot water pack around the painful area, multiple times a day. Follow back ergonomics like sitting with good back support, avoid sitting on the floor, and for prolonged period of time. Avoid lifting weight and turn to one side while getting up from lying down position.
Next Steps
Continue for a few days. If pain doesn’t subside , visit a physician/ orthopaedic.
