Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician.
Your case has been allotted to me.
I understand your concern having loose motions for a full week despite taking multiple antibiotics can be very exhausting, both physically and mentally. It also shows that your intestines are still inflamed and have not yet recovered completely.
Advices
Stop taking further new antibiotics on your own unless advised after stool tests. Too many antibiotics together can worsen diarrhea by killing normal gut bacteria.
Focus on hydration with ORS, coconut water, and clear soups. Avoid milk, oily food, and raw fruits for now.
Include curd or a probiotic capsule such as Econorm or Vizylac once daily after food to help restore healthy gut bacteria.
What to Monitor
The number and consistency of stools each day.
Any fever, abdominal pain, or dizziness from dehydration.
Management
The dark watery stool after starting the new medicines is likely due to antibiotic effect or mild irritation of the intestinal lining, not necessarily bleeding.
Continue ORS frequently and take a bland diet.
If motion frequency remains high or there is visible blood or mucus, stool tests and a basic blood examination are needed before changing medicines again.
When to Consult a Doctor Immediately
If you feel excessive weakness, dehydration, or dizziness.
If there is blood or black color in stool.
If fever or pain in the abdomen increases.
Every patientâs situation is unique. For accurate diagnosis and lasting recovery, it is important to discuss your medical history and review your reports in detail.
