At 5 months, babies begin to roll over on their own. If your baby is consistently rolling to his left side on his own, it is usually not dangerous.
1. Gently Encourage Back Sleeping:
• Always place him on his back to sleep initially.
• If he rolls to his side on his own, let him stay — but ensure:
• No pillows, bumpers, or soft toys around him
• Firm mattress and flat sleeping surface
2. Alternate Head Position During Wake Time:
• During tummy time and awake periods, alternate his head direction to prevent flat spots.
• Avoid prolonged time in car seats, swings, or rockers during naps.
3. Monitor for Plagiocephaly (Flat Head):
• If one side of the head looks flatter, or there’s tightness in the neck, consult your pediatrician.
• Physiotherapy or repositioning exercises may help in some cases.
