Need sone help here,
My mother have lower back pain, when we check with one of orthopedic doctor with spine x ray, he told us that she have L5 S1 listhesis issue. And need to operate asap. He also advised for MRI to be done. But cos of covid we have not done yet.
Doc have prescribed some calcium tablets for one month.
Pls advise can it be sured without surgery of spine ?
Any other treatment we can do to resolve this issue ?

We need to first ascertain under examination that if she has any nerve compression and is back pain more than leg pain or both are present in equal amount . MRI will decide whether surgery is required and if there is any nerve root compression. Usually in listhesis back pain is more and requires a spinal fusion surgery . Yes MRI is mandatory to decide treatment. Until then , wearing a LS belt and avoiding back extension and forward bending will help reduce symptoms. She will also require some painkillers to cope up with the pain till then.
