KNEE REPLACEMENT

2024-05-06 13:43:35
My mother has stage 4 knee arthritis( osteoarthritis ) and we are planning to replace her knee. Can anyone guide me which material has the highest longevity and say after 20-25 years (she is 55 years old) she doesn't do the repeat surgery then what are the complications she might face and can we skip the repeat surgery? I am asking as she also has renal problems and with age she might not be fit to do a repeat surgery so will metal cause any issue if we dont change it and let it stay inside?

All joints stay for 20-25-30 years , Oxinium joint says 30-35 years longevity . Regarding complications and repeat surgery no one can guarantee. No any metal will cause any issue in case of renal problems in future .

Hello With latest surgical techniques, metal implants, advances in technology used for the surgery and prosthesis designs, longevity of the implants has increased significantly. If the surgery is performed accurately with best fitting implants and perfect alignment, she can have a single surgery which will last her a lifetime.
