Low vit d and
calcium may cause weakness of bones and thus causing excessive strain over the weight bearing joints like knee causing the pain..
Stair climbing is good exercise.. It can be continued.. But should not be excessive.. that may cause pain..
Next Steps
I would also suggest to start Quadriceps and Hamstring strengthening exercises for improving the strength of the knee and start
calcium and vit d supplements..
