Main reason for swelling is accumulation of fluid around the inflamed or injured body part. There can be different reasons for ur conditions. If swelling is at ankle that means ur blood is not pumping towards heart from ur feet. It can be bcoz of less use of calf muscles, limited walking, any inflammation in body. The best treatment for swelling is to apply cold pack for 15 minutes( twice a day).
Do ankle pumps, use compression bandages daily and put ur legs on two pillows when u sleep. Try to use your leg muscles, u can also opt for cycling, swimming, treadmill walk. Hope this information might help u .
