White pus mixed with blood drains intermittently, and there’s slight swelling on my hand. The original doctor referred me to a surgeon, who recommended a minor procedure to incise the skin, drain the pus, and stitch it up. Is there any non-surgical alternative, like an ointment or antibiotic tablets, to heal this? I’m concerned about the exact cause of the wound forming precisely at the IV site.
