Is NIPT result trustable?

Hi doctor, In the double marker test, trisomy 21 is positive. If NIPT result comes negative, is it trustworthy or is this also like a probability assumption? If the NIPT result comes positive, what to do the next step?

NIPT is highly sensitive when it comes to diagnosis of trisomy 21. If the result is low risk, w can almost assume that the baby is not affected. But at the end of the day, it’s a screening test like double marker . If it comes out to be positive, we have to take further confirmatory tests like CVS or amniocentesis to take further decisions

It is 99% accurate for trisomy 21 (assuming adequate fetal fraction that more than 4%) Means still there are 1% chance of being false negative Can go for amniocentesis for 100% accurate result considering it’s complications also
