Inquiry about COVID test

Both me (age: 27 yrs) and my mom (age: 56 yrs) have been tested COVID positive and were taking meds. It have been 2 weeks and doctor told us not to take RT PCR test. I just wanted to know shall both of us should take RT PCR test to confirm whether we are Negative or not?
