Hi. Mri reports sometimes may be misleading sometimes due to interobserver variations. I feel you should be seen clinically by a sports specialist to check if really have instability signs like Lachman test and Anterior drawer test and for meniscus joint line tenderness with McMurray test positive. If yes and mri also shows the same thing then yes you need to go for surgery if no then probably we can try conservative treatment.
Next Steps
Please keep doing quadriceps and hamstring strengthening exercises till you get this sorted.
Health Tips
Sometimes even if you have a Acl tear and you live a sedentary lifestyle not involved in active sports we can think of not operating you it's very well described in literature.
