He coughs incessantly not long coughs but very short cough or just coming from throat. Not from the lungs. Otherwise he is very active. What may be the problem and whether and whom should I consult.

Short coughs in 12 yr olds could be allergic or habbit cough or might also be due to anxiety. Your child needs to be examined
