Mirtazapine is given for depression but since it also has side effect of sleep some doctors use it in low dose for sleep . Your doctor has appropriately tapered you off by slowly reducing the dose to 7.5mg. So there wont be much withdrawal symptoms. As regards to sleep issue, proper evaluation needs to be done to find the cause of your sleep disturbance. Its better to treat the cause rather than taking medication for sleep. You can try meditation, sleep hygiene, regular exercise first. If it doesnt work then please visit a psychiatrist to evaluate fpr underlying problems of sleep disturbance.

Don’t stop medicine abruptly as you can have relapse. You can try for sleep hygiene and relaxation techniques for sleep but you need to get evaluated for any other symptoms of depression or anxiety.
Next Steps
Consult psychiatrist

Mirtazapine is a sedative antidepressant and melatonin helps regulate sleep. If you want to normalise sleep without medications you can try Cognitive behavioral therapy for sleep. Good luck.
