Hello, Pain after Filling can be either due to high points for which you can visit your dentist to grind the high points or if pain is accompanied with senstivity then due to it's proximity to pulp which might require root canal treatment .

There shouldn't be any pain after a simple filling of a tooth. If you have soreness in the gums because of the procedure it should subside in a couple of days . But if the decay was close to the pulp of the tooth it can lead to continuous pain after the filling procedure and can be checked with an X-ray . Also a high point (high filling) in the filling can cause pain after the filling that worsens when you chew . Visit the dentist to check for high points and the proximity of the decay to the pulp . Certain tooth colour filling procedures can also cause pain in the tooth . If pain persists the dentist may decide to remove the fillings and may decide to place a soothing material within the cavity till the pain subsides. So report back to the dentist for a follow up.
