Let me correct my Colleague here, who answered your question earlier.
Otosclerosis is an INCURABLE disease where the bones of the ear become progressively brittle and crumble. It usually starts with the small ossicles of your ear and then spreads onto the inner ear bone which eventually renders you completely deaf!
There is two ways in which we can manage this condition presently. One is by giving you hearing
aids to amplify the sound incident of your eardrums.
The other is to surgically replace the ossicles connecting the eardrum to the cochlea with prostheses.
In both, the disease keeps progressing and eventually when the cochlea crumbles, you WILL GO IRREVERSIBLY DEAF!
A lot of research(Gene therapy) is still on to cure this disease. In the meanwhile, there is one option available for cochlear otosclerosis, but it too is still in developmental stage - Brainstem Hearing Implants!
As for alternate medicine(AYUSH), unfortunately, even they are still clueless about managing this condition!
