Hello respected Doctors, Pls help. I have a cousin who is 30 yrs old and stays with me as she is an orphan. Past few months she keeps on sulking and worrying. It is so weird that she reads every question and answers here on Practo and Lybrate. Then she starts assuming she has the disease. Let me tell u she is asymtomatic. We did run blood tests around 35 tests. No thyroid ordiabets or pressure bp.. She forced one of the Doctors to write MRI of the whole body on the prescription without informing is. She said she saw a person aged on dialysis and started crying that her kidneys are failing and needs a dialysis.. Once she said she had brain tumor. Next she says she has pancreatic cancer and ovarian. She is not married. Height 5.2 and weight 46kgs.. Pls help. We have wasted lots of money on her check up.. Pls honest feedback required. Thnx

Hello there, i completely understand your concern and i have infact had many such similar patients who were delusional to the fact that they would rather go doctor shopping instead of accepting everything is okay with them. There's no way to diagnose her without talking with her face to face but she seems to have munchausen syndrome. You should seek a psychiatrist and she needs counselling. Sometimes it's better administered by relatives but most of the times a medical professional may help better than most since they're trained. People like her  are treated as if they're mad because there is enough social stigma already present. Treat her like she is sick from a disease. All diseases are not organic. There are non organic causes and this is one of them.
Next Steps
Seek a consult from a psychiatrist.
