Recent report shows that my wife's HB is 9.6 gms. We are planning to conceive. Is it the right time and we can plan our family or we should wait till her HB increases. She is already taking folic acid tablets.

Hi there I understand your concern and anxiety... No need to wait till haemoglobin increase... You people can plan pregnancy but one should continue treatment even after conception...HB concentration will decrease during pregnancy due to haemoconcentration that time if it's too low you may require blood transfusion etc...Consult nearest gynecologists they will do the needful.

Hello, Her hemoglobin level is low. Ask her to take iron supplements daily. Also, pre-conception counseling is advised.

Hi.if hb is low, do hb electrophoresis. To know if any hemoglobinopathy. Take one iron cap also. You can try for pregnancy now . As you may get pregnancy in one month or 2 or 6 months. Meet gyn to do some prenatal investigations. Which r really important.
