Hard breast after stopping breastfeeding

I stopped breastfeeding few days before by taking tablets for two days cabergoline . I have hard breast and doctor advised to not to pump the milk. How long does it stay like this.

You should have made the breast tissue empty before taking this medicine Since the breast is hard  you will have to pump extra milk to make it soft otherwise you will end up with fever
