Hair loss with d3 deficiency

Hair loss concern (ongoing for almost 1 year). Hello Doctor, I was recently diagnosed with a Vitamin D3 level of 4.2, which I understand is quite low. Could this deficiency be contributing to my hair loss? If yes, to what extent can it affect hair health? I’ve been advised to take 60,000 IU of Vitamin D3 weekly. Is this dosage appropriate in my case, and for how long should I continue it to reach optimal levels? Please also suggest the best treatment approach to manage this ongoing hair loss. Do i start minoxidil and finnasteride tropical solution Thank you.

You have androgenetic alopecia (male pattern hair loss), and your Vitamin D3 level (4.2) is severely deficient, which can worsen hair fall (telogen effluvium component) but is not the sole cause. So your hair loss is likely a combination of hormonal + nutritional factors. Next Steps: • Continue Vitamin D3 60,000 IU weekly for 8–10 weeks, then switch to monthly/maintenance dose (as advised) • Check baseline labs if not done: B12, ferritin, thyroid • Use Ketoconazole shampoo (2–3 times/week) for scalp health Helpful Tips / Words of Caution: • Vitamin D correction helps reduce shedding, but won’t reverse pattern baldness alone • Do not delay treatment—early intervention gives best regrowth You can consult with me via Practo for detailed evaluation and treatment
