Growing beard

I am 27 years old. Being a man, I am still not able to grow beard. It just comes in patches and it is very short. Doesn't grow beyond that. I get it as a long side locks and above lips. Also, I keep my face clean. Shave twice a week. Please suggest what can be done through medicines or any other mode to get thick beard.
