Inflamed/ infected skin sometimes becomes a bit dark after infection or irritation, though mildly/temporarily or not at all with a fungal infection.
Next Steps
If you are using any antifungal cream with steroids in it you will have to stop using it. As it may thin down and irritate the skin further, even if you may feel a short term benefit from it. Would suggest that you consult a doctor if its bothersome, but if ever you do have to use an antifungal cream (eg clotrimazole) use plain antifungal cream (eg. plain 'Candid' cream), never use an antifungal+steroid cream (that is, for eg.- never use Candid-B unless advised by dermatologist, that too for a short period).
Its best not to take random ointments and creams, on&off, without confirmed diagnosis. It will make these creams less effective. If you know its ringworm because you've had it before go ahead though.
If, after applying steroid creams, your skin is very thinned out and fragile, you better seek an in-person consultation with a dermatologist. I hope its not got that bad!
But you can always take healthy preventive steps!
Health Tips
You know prevention is better than cure etc etc.! To prevent groin irritation or fungal infection make sure you keep the area dry - wear fully dried, daily washed underclothes. Pubic hair may be shaved to prevent moisture trapping. Basically keep the area dry. Hope you can get rid of this bother!
