The Drs attending her can tell better, as decision to remove tracheostomy tube depends on why it was put. How much improvement is there.

After thyroidectomy with tracheostomy, the duration of tube removal (decannulation) varies. There is no fixed number of days—it depends on recovery of airway and breathing. At ~20 days post-op with SpO₂ 94–96%, things are stable, but tube removal is considered only when: • Airway swelling has completely settled • Patient can breathe comfortably through natural airway • Secretions are minimal and manageable • Cough is strong enough to clear secretions
Next Steps
• Consult ENT surgeon / treating surgeon for decannulation assessment • They may perform: – Tube capping trial (blocking tube to test natural breathing) – Airway examination (sometimes with scope) • If she passes trials → gradual removal • If not → tube is kept longer until safe ⚠️ Do not attempt removal at home
Health Tips
• Continue regular suctioning but avoid over-suction (can irritate airway) • Keep tube clean, humidified air helps reduce thick secretions • Watch for warning signs: – Breathing difficulty – Drop in oxygen

Usually removal of tracheostomy tube depends on patients overall condition as mentioned oxygen level states quiet good condition of patient If there is minimal secretion, patient having strong cough reflex nd if patient starts breathing by own or stable on minimal ventilator settings doctors still waits for 7-10 days for better of patient

No fixed time. Usually 2–4 weeks. Remove only if: Breathing normal SpO₂ >94% Good cough, minimal secretions Tolerates capping 👉 ENT check before removal is must
