What is foliate papillae? Is it visible in naked eye? Is it red and bump up little? Any one can guide?

Greetings, Sir foliate papillae are small projections of toungue , they help us to swellow food.may also associate with taste buds. Sometimes they may appear swollen because of food injury. Hope this will help you

Dear Patient Foliate papilaes are on side of the tongue. Usually not visible unless viewed closely . The bumpy round papilae you are referring to are called circum villate papillae and are present on the back of the tongue. And circum villate papillae are visible to naked eye. Visit for a regular dental check up to make sure all is ok. Hope this helps you
