Few Fat Globules in stool exam

My 2 month old son had diarrhea and high fever. When his stool was tested, it showed few fat globules. What could have cause it? Is it also a sign of lactose intolerance? Im formula feeding my baby with a lactose free formula and i wanted to try a cheaper formula since lactose free milks are more expensive.

Fat globules doesn't mean lactose intolerance. Stool test should show reducing substance positive, pH of stool should be acidic that indicates lactose intolerance. You can shift to regular formula by consulting your pediatrician
