Fever stops and then comes after 3 days

Hello my son is 2 years old..we recently celebrated his 2nd birthday with family and friends..the very next day he had fever for 2 days reaching 102 max without any cold or cough...the fever disappeared 3rd day so I stopped p250...he was active and playful. But again after 3 days he got fever with heavy cold and dry cough..why this is happening...he usually get fever once in every 2 to 3 months..I feel so strange.. please help..is this normal??
