Failed root canal

2017-04-01 06:04:41
I had a root canal treatment on second molar(second to wisdom tooth) in lower jaw, about two months ago. Since the crown was too high, I had the crown ground after about a week, to make the bite normal. Since then, I started having a tingling sensation when tongue was made to touch the tooth. It became worse, with a numbness and burning sensation on the cheeks, which extends upto the chin. There is also ear pain on the side of this tooth. There were no pain on applying pressure on the root-canaled tooth, either before the treatment or even a few weeks after the treatment. However, now there is also pain on biting with the tooth. Please note that this pain is distinct from the numbness sensation that I have described earlier. Would I need to get a re-rootcanal or would it be preferable to extract the tooth ?

An X-ray needs to be taken to know what is causing the problem.  If it is necessary, a Re RCT can be done. Or else we need to check the height of the crown and occlusion.  Also confirm whether is there any other tooth involved also.

Firstly you need to go back to your dentist and put all these concerns. We need to take a xray to see the cause of pain. Sometimes a ill fitting crown can also  cause occlusion problems, which can present in the symptoms which you mentioned. Go back to your doctor and get it checked up.

There might be ill-fitting crown just to confirm we can take x ray and then rule out and numbness might be due to temporary nerve paralysis nothing to worry that will be corrected by itself
