Facial warts near the moustache area are often caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) and can be recurrent, especially in areas exposed to shaving trauma. Recurrence even after dermatological removal is not uncommon due to viral persistence in surrounding tissue.
Next Steps
Yes, the HPV vaccine (like Gardasil-9) can help reduce recurrence, especially if multiple or stubborn warts are present. Though primarily preventive, it may assist in limiting further spread. Additionally, oral zinc supplements (e.g., zinc sulfate 200 mg/day) have shown some benefit in improving immune response to HPV.
Health Tips
Avoid shaving over active lesions to reduce spread. Maintain skin hygiene and consider a consultation for options like electrocautery, cryotherapy, or topical immunomodulators (imiquimod) if warts persist.
