Extreme cough and cold, unable to sleep

My baby is having extreme cough when lying down. He is unable to sleep and didn't sleep the whole night. Should we give any medicine to induce sleep or please help how we can make him sleep? We have tried everything from anti allergy to cough syrups to steam and neubilise.

To assess the kind of cough, whether urti or lrti, you should visit a pediatrician and get the chest auscultated. Only then proper medicine can be prescribed.
