Hello, this is good to ask and know as you have rightly identified the behaviour issues with you child. It appears that he may be having attention deficit which includes inattention to tasks requiring sustained concentration such as studying and academic activities. And as you have rightly noted there also is an element of hyperactivity and hence unable to stay at a place. Such hyperactivity usually leads to behaviour problems such as opposing instructions given by elders , back answering , lying etc. If untreated and unattended it may lead to problems in his academics, behaviour and personality development later. There is also a need to understand his history concerning his birth and also his intelligence and academic problems is any to understand if he may develop any learning problems later. Yes, there are medications for this and I'm additional behaviour modification strategies need to be put in place along with tips to parents to handle the child.
