Menstruation is governed by various hormones. It is observed that obese and sedentary lifestyle affects the duration and the frequency of menses. Infact, excercise helps regularise the periods.
During teenage years the periods are very erratic( high flow, short or long cycles) and it only gets regular after 2-3 years of onset of menses.
During this time hygiene is utmost important.
Diet rich in iron such as green vegetables, iron supplements are recommended.
