Was it a sporadic incidence or do you use excess soap regularly.Soaps wash away oily layer on the skin which is protective for it.It makes skin dry can result in dermatitis and some other skin problems you should stop using excess amount of soap.you can use good moisturiser/emollient if you are having dryness in the skin because of soap
