Endometrium Thickness

2016-09-12 11:28:19
Doctor, For all the past months when doing Follicular scan study, my endometrium thickness was seemed to be in range greater than 6mm or 7-7.5mm. But this month follicular study showed only 4.8mm. My thyroid profile is normal (TSH,T3/T4) and is also verified by the doctor I'm consulting to. But my anti-thyroglobulin & anti-TSH antibodies are highly elevated. Still she said no need medication for that. When I recently consulted an infertility centre, they prescribed me Thyronorm tab daily in the early morning empty stomach. So my doubt is will this condition highly impact my fertility & pregnancy? And I doubt whether this thyroxine sodium caused thinning of my endometrium. Please clarify whether to take the tablet or not. Also, kindly tell me whether will Estrogen (Estradiol Valerate) tab from Day 5 of periods & Progesterone (Duphaston) tab from 15th day of periods will make the endometrium back to its thicker state & help to get pregnant? Thanks, S.C

Hi, if your thyroid antibodies are elevated, it us better to take your prescribed thyroxine tablets. They will not affect the endometrium. Estradiol will help in thickening of the endometrium. How many cycles have you been taking ovulation induction medicines for?

Hello there.  I can understand your concern.  Yes you have to continue taking thyroid hormone daily on an empty stomach in the mornings as suggested by your doctor. And no, there wont be any problems in becoming pregnant due to thyroid hormone. Its a needed thing. For the other part of the question i believe my colleague would have been helpful.  Best regards.  Dr. Anil kumar jain. Bangalore.

Thyroxine does not cause thinning of the endometrium. Estrogen valerate and progesterone will help in thickening the endometrium.
