Eating pattern causing me to feel better

2026-01-14 05:43:49
29. Male.5'6". 75 kg. Currently taking paliperidone 150 mg. I seem to suffer from apathy for everything except youtube and sleeping. I also have adhd like symptoms where I skip text while reading if I feel it's unimportant or not the conclusion I would like to know in the moment. It's a weird behaviour. Now once I ate veg rolls , drank milkshake and did a little cardio my interest in things returned. Can any stomach related issue cause this problem that resolves after eating and doing cardio?

Symptoms are more suggestive of medication side-effects, low energy states, irregular meals, not stomach disease alone. Advice: Regular meals every 3–4 hours Adequate protein + hydration Check CBC, B12, Vitamin D, TSH Psychiatric medication review may be required. You may consult with me via Practo for further guidance

Need to consult your  psychiatrist  for dose adjustment. Mostly these are due to paliperidone . It is not a gastric disease

Your symptoms are more likely related to a combination of medication effect (paliperidone), low dopamine/mental fatigue, and metabolic factors rather than a primary stomach disorder. Apathy, reduced motivation, and attention-skipping are well-known side effects of antipsychotics and can mimic or worsen ADHD-like symptoms. The temporary improvement after eating and cardio suggests a dopamine and glucose-related boost, not a gastrointestinal disease.
Next Steps
Discuss these symptoms with your psychiatrist—dose adjustment or switching medication may be needed if apathy is affecting daily functioning. Basic blood tests such as fasting blood sugar, HbA1c, thyroid profile, vitamin B12, vitamin D, and lipid profile can help rule out metabolic contributors.
Health Tips
Do not stop or alter paliperidone on your own. Long gaps between meals can worsen mental dullness and attention issues. Regular cardio improves brain dopamine and motivation—try 20–30 minutes daily. I

Try to keep busy yourself. Usually stomach related issues don't cause such type of problem. As per you discreption your problem are suggestive more of psychological rather then pathological. For this You can consult Psychiatrist and can also go for counseling.

Yes, eating and doing light cardio can temporarily improve interest, motivation, and focus — but this is usually not due to a stomach disease.feel free to consult me on practo for further management and evaluation.
