Since you already had a three-dose rabies vaccination six months ago, your body has developed immunity.
Superficial scratches without blood or puncture wounds do not require post-exposure rabies shot. But still see your family physician in this regard.
Next Steps
Precautions: 1. Wash the scratch area immediately with soap and running water for at least 10 minutes.
2. Apply an antiseptic (Betadine is a good choice) to prevent infection.
3. Monitor the dog,, If you regularly feed the same dogs and they appear healthy, the risk is extremely low
NOTE: - Booster Shots – If you continue to have frequent close interactions, you might consider a booster dose after 1 year as per WHO guidelines(LIKE I DO AS A VET BECAUSE ITS AN OCCUPATIONAL HAZARD FOR ME).
But for now, no extra shots are needed.
Health Tips
If in DOUBT or if you experience a DEEP bite or open wound EXPOSURE,, consult in detail. Otherwise, with your past vaccination and mild scratches, you’re well protected.
Keep up the great work! 👍 💪..hope this helps.
Thanks 🙏
