Dog bite, adv on after bite affect on le
This Morning, my father was bitten by a dog, I would like to know if he needs to take a vaccination within a certain time or immediately as there was no bleeding & just a bite mark with little skin cut & light blood on the exposed wound on his right leg over the ankle area on flesh.
He has washed the wound with water & dettol soap bar, plz advice if there is any concern to worry abt

Washing the dogbitten area with water will manually remove the virus.
Washing it with Dettol soap will chemically inactivate the virus.
Since your father had bleeding from a broken skin due to bite, he falls under the Category III of exposure Classification and requires neutralization of the virus by Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) and Anti Rabies Vaccine (ARV) 5-doses @ days 0, 3, 7, 14, 28

Please don't underestimate a dogbite. Start the postexposure prophylaxis immediately.

Observe the dog for 10days, if possible. If the dog dies, You have to continue the complete schedule. If the dog is normal, the 14th day and 28th day injection may be withheld.
