MRI / MRCP is generally safe for a 7-year-old child. It does not use radiation.
Sedation may be needed if the child is unable to lie still for 30–45 minutes. This is decided by the radiology team.
Before scan:
• Follow fasting instructions if sedation is planned
• Remove any metal objects
• Inform doctor about any allergies or previous reactions
Regarding diet, since he has IBD and pain after maida foods, it is better to avoid refined flour, junk food, spicy and oily items. Give soft, home-cooked food, adequate fluids, coconut water, and simple meals as tolerated.
As ultrasound shows cholangitis and MRI is advised, it is important to proceed for proper evaluation.
Based on your symptoms, this may require proper clinical assessment and prescription. You may book an online consultation with me for detailed evaluation and personalised treatment plan.
