The normal vertical overlap of the upper front teeth over the lower front teeth is 2 to 4 millimetres and is called as overbite. When the overlap is in excess of this dimension it is called as deep bite. This can be damaging to the teeth as well as the bones, and in worst cases the lower anterior teeth can traumatize the mucosa of the palate also. But all these symptoms depend upon the magnitude of deep bite and that can be assessed after a proper clinical examination. Even the treatment of deep bite, if required, will depend upon this clinical analysis. There are different modalities of treatment with varying treatment costs. All these can be explained to you in detail after evaluation of your case.
Please consult an orthodontist for the same. The treatment duration will also depend upon the magnitude of deep bite and the treatment modality employed to correct it.
