Temper tantrums are very common in children. Identifying & Avoiding/preventing the triggers will help you. As you mentioned, in your child trigger is hunger.
Parents should not get angry/yell or give threats during temper tantrums.
Timeout therapy has to practiced by the parents. During timeout the child will not get any attention from parents, child cannot interact with her parents/anyone, fun things for the child are to removed.
